Age Specific Rules for AYSO Region 880
Region 880 matches shall be conducted in accordance with the current
AYSO National Rules and Regulations
. AYSO uses the FIFA Laws of the Game and decisions
of the
International Football Association Board (IFAB)
and the
U.S. Soccer Player Development Initiatives, with the following exceptions and clarifications:
Playground Soccer
Size 3 Ball
No games; Practices only working on fundamental skill development
Soccer/Athletic shoes and shin guards are required
5U/6U
4 v 4 (no goalkeeper)
Size 3 Ball
Total “Game” Length: 30 minutes
Two 15 minute halves
1st 30 minutes of scheduled time is practice
Each player must play 50% of the game
Offside rule is not enforced
Kick-ins replace throw-ins
Substitutions at break, unless injury
Soccer/Athletic shoes and shin guards are required for all games and practices
Each coach will bring 2 corner flags to the game
Coaches
can
be on the field
8U
5 v 5 (with Goalkeeper)
Size 3 Ball
Total Game Length: 40 minutes
Four 10 minute quarters
Each player must play 50% of the game
Offside rule is not enforced
No heading
Throw-ins are allowed
(both feet down on or behind the touchline and the ball released with both hands
over
the head)
Goals may not be scored directly from a kick-off
ALL free kicks are indirect
Substitutions at quarter breaks, unless injury
Soccer/Athletic shoes and shin guards are required for all games and practices
Coaches can not be on the field, only the referee
Each coach will bring 2 corner flags to the game
Only the coach and assistant coach can be on the touchline and must remain within 10 yards of the halfway line
10U
7 v 7 (includes goalkeeper)
Size 4 Ball
Total Game Length: 50 minutes
Two 25 minute halves
Substitutions half way through (~12.5 minutes)
Each player must play 50% of the game
Offside rule is enforced from the
build-out line
No intentional heading of the ball
No goalkeeper punting
Throw-ins (both feet down on or behind the touchline and the ball released with both hands
over
the head)
Substitutions at quarter breaks, unless injury
Soccer/Athletic shoes and shin guards are required for all games and practices
Each coach will bring 2 corner flags to the game
Coaches
can not
be on the field, only the referee
Only the coach and assistant coach can be on the touchline and must remain within 10 yards of the halfway line
12U
9 v 9 (includes goalkeeper)
Size 4 Ball
Total Game Length: 60 minutes
Two 30 minute halves
Substitutions half way through (~15 minutes)
Each player must play 50% of the game
Offside rule is enforced from the halfway line
No intentional heading of the ball
Throw-ins (both feet down on or behind the touchline and the ball released with both hands
over
the head)
Substitutions at quarter breaks, unless injury
Soccer/Athletic shoes and shin guards are required for all games and practices

Two 35 minute halves
Substitutions half way through (~17.5 minutes)
Each player must play 50% of the game
Offside rule is enforced from the halfway line
Throw-ins (both feet down on or behind the touchline and the ball released with both hands
over
the head)
Substitutions at quarter breaks, unless injury
Soccer/Athletic shoes and shin guards are required for all games and practices
Each coach will bring u4 corner flags to the game
Coaches
can not
be on the field, only the referee
Only the coach and assistant coach can be on the touchline and must remain within 10 yards of the halfway line
19U
11 v 11 (includes goalkeeper)
Size 5 Ball
Total Game Length: 90 minutes
Two 45 minute halves
Each player must play 50% of the game
Offside rule is enforced from the halfway line
Throw-ins (both feet down on or behind the touchline and the ball released with both hands
over
the head)
Monitored Substitution using independant monitor
On your team’s own throw-ins
Any goal kick
Any time the opposing team substitutes on their throw-ins
Soccer/Athletic shoes and shin guards are required for all games and practices
Each coach will bring 4 corner flags to the game
Coaches
can not
be on the field, only the referee
Only the coach and assistant coach can be on the touchline and must remain within 10 yards of the halfway line
